Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Now Offered at BCA

Bedford Counseling Associates is pleased to offer Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Services starting April 3, 2023.

TMS is a non-invasive FDA-approved medical procedure used to help treat Major Depressive Disorder. TMS is a prescribed treatment that uses a small device called a “treatment coil” placed over the scalp to deliver brief magnetic fields to stimulate the brain.  The treatment has been shown to be a safe and well-tolerated procedure that can be an effective treatment for adult patients, 18 and older when medications and psychotherapy have not provided relief. TMS can offer hope to those who suffer from depression and who seek a treatment option void of surgery, anesthesia, or sedation. Patients must qualify for TMS and need to be referred by their Medical Provider.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) Offered at BCA

One of the most sought-after treatments for trauma is now available at Bedford Counseling Associates. Trauma often causes people to struggle with their memories and thoughts regarding a certain event, making it difficult to make sense of what happened. When one fees unable to sort out the trauma, it can have a dramatic and detrimental effect on one’s life and in dealing with the memories.

The adult Mental Health First Aid Training program is now offered for community groups in the Greater Manchester area.

Mental Health First Aid is a 8-hour training certification course which teaches participants a five-step action plan to assess a situation, select and implement interventions and secure appropriate care for the individual. The certification program introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems, builds understanding of their impact and overviews common treatments.  Thorough evaluations in randomized controlled trials and a quantitative study have proved the CPR-like program effective in improving trainees’ knowledge of mental disorders, reducing stigma and increasing the amount of help provided to others. New Image for Counseling Center

MANCHESTER, NH – Bedford Counseling Associates (BCA), an affiliated group practice of The Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester, recently launched a new website and a revised logo, which were designed and developed by Graphic Details of Portsmouth. BCA, which provides short term counseling and medication services, implemented a new marketing strategy in response to the growing demand for its behavioral healthcare services. BCA has been a staple in the community for more than 25 years, but in the past, its programs were promoted as part of the system of care that is provided by The Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester.

MHCGM Marketing and Development Director, Sandra Seney, said “The re-designed marketing approach for Bedford Counseling Associates will help us to better align its core services with our target market. Although the practice is flourishing, it was time to give BCA its own identity, so that we could be more responsive to current marketing trends in promoting the programs and services that we offer for children, adults and seniors.” Seney added, “The new mobile-responsive website was an important step for our group practice, since our target market increasingly uses mobile phones and tablets to access the internet. The accessibility of the site will allow others to gather the information that they may need, while in the privacy of their home.”

The new site; www.bedfordcounseling.org is specifically dedicated to the programs and services offered at BCA, which focus on restoring health and improving quality of life. Bedford Counseling Associates is conveniently located at 1228 Elm Street in downtown Manchester.
